Upcoming Homecoming Opportunities for Students

Time for School Day

Our school day will last for students from 8:00am-2:20pm daily.  We will share more information about breakfast, the after-school program, and other items in the coming days and weeks.

Supporting Our Students

Michael Viruet has transitioned into a Guidance Counselor position.  Mr. Viruet was formerly a Social Studies teacher and most recently the Dean of Students at our school for the past four years.  We are excited to have Mr. Viruet and Ms. Scalici working with our students as Guidance Counselors, and Mr. Thomas Nuckel will continue to support students and families as our School Social Worker.  Parents can reach out to our Guidance Counselors based on the first letter of your child’s last name:

Last Names A-L: Ms. Nina Scalici (ascalici6@schools.nyc.gov)

Last Names M-Z: Mr. Michael Viruet (mviruet2@schools.nyc.gov)

In general, counseling, applying for high school, and other concerns can be addressed to our Guidance Counselors based on who is assigned to your child.  Mr. Nuckel will continue to support students and families across grade levels as well.

Dean of Students Announcement

Our Dean of Students for the upcoming school year will be Matthew Klein.  Mr. Klein was formerly a Science and Special Education teacher at our school, and we are excited to have him working with our students and families in his new role.

 MS 67Q Administrative Team Update

Maria Lam, Grade 8 Assistant Principal, is currently on leave due to the birth of her child last June.  We congratulate Ms. Lam and her family!  In her absence, students and parents can reach out to:

Assistant Principal Taso Lampoutis (tlampoutis@schools.nyc.gov)

Assistant Principal Anthony Rizzo (arizzo@schools.nyc.gov)

Principal Brian Annello (bannello@schools.nyc.gov)

You can continue to reach out to Ms. Lam via email if necessary, and please allow for time for a response and/or your concern to be addressed.  We will update you regarding Ms. Lam’s return in the coming weeks.

Supporting Our Parents

Ms. Jenny Cho, our Parent Coordinator, can assist with your questions or concerns as well.  She can be reached via email at xcho@schools.nyc.gov.

Student Transportation Update

Incoming grade 6 students will receive yellow bus passes on the first day if they qualify for a yellow bus.  If you believe your child qualifies for a yellow bus, please have your child request a “Yellow Bus Request Form” from their homeroom teacher.  Students across grades who qualify and want to request full and half-fare MetroCards will be able to do get those forms from their homeroom teachers as well.

We hope you are able to join us for one of our upcoming Coffee and Conversation meetings this Wednesday or Friday.  If not, updates and information will continue to be shared via email and PupilPath in the coming days and weeks.  Thank you, and enjoy the remaining days of the Summer!
